About Maxisud
Maxisud is a narrow, geometrical sans serif that acts as a reinterpretation of the Futura Maxi typeface found in Photo-Lettering’s One Line Manual of Styles. It comes in two styles: a Normal one, and another version bearing inktraps, using these technical features as the visual treats they are. Why put inktraps on a phototype-inspired face, you would ask? These do look good in display, while providing texture and readability in smaller point sizes. Maxisud has a higher x-height than Futura, and shares similarities with Avant-Garde Gothic Condensed and the classic poster cut Futura Condensed ExtraBold. Its semi-condensed and round letterforms are reminiscent of several iconic visuals: from the campaigns of famous sport brands, to the wit of the Guerrilla Girls, and the dreamy titles of David Lynch’s TV series Twin Peaks.

Il movimento nasce da un gruppo di scrittori americani, venendo alla ribalta nel 1950, come anche i fenomeni culturali da esso ispirati. Gli elementi centrali della cultura “Beat” sono il rifiuto di norme imposte, le innovazioni nello stile, la sperimentazione delle droghe, l’interesse per le religioni orientali, un rifiuto del materialismo e delle rappresentazioni esplicite e crude della condizione umana.

On trouve également mention de la pâte feuilletée, réalisée feuille à feuille selon la technique arabe, dans le livre de recettes espagnol Libro del arte de cozina (Livre sur l’art de la cuisine) écrit par Domingo Hernández de Maceras et publié en 1607. Maceras, chef cuisinier dans l’un des collèges de l’université de Salamanque, distinguait déjà les recettes de pâte feuilletée garnie des tartes feuilletées, et mentionne même des préparations au levain. Francisco Martínez Motiño, chef de cuisine de Philippe II d’Espagne (1527-1598), a également donné plusieurs recettes de pâte feuilletée dans son Arte de cocina, pastelería, bizcochería y conservería (Arts culinaires, confiserie, boulangerie et conserverie) publié en 1611.
